RJ Kennett is originally from Houston, Texas. He has lived in Virginia, Oklahoma and Colorado at varying times, but is currently back in his home state of Texas. He is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma in Norman.
In previous lives, he has been a political consultant, a one-man marketing department and a web programmer. He is presently marketing manager for an industrial products company, writing in the evenings and on weekends.
Kennett’s interest in horror began at an early age, mostly with short stories. Like many of his contemporaries, he was inspired by the likes of Edgar Allan Poe, H. P. Lovecraft, Stephen King, and Robert Bloch.
Despite an early interest in writing, Kennett pursued a career in political consulting after college, which morphed into marketing, which morphed into general information technology and web programming. The e-book revolution brought with it an explosion in self-publishing, empowering millions of talented (and yes, even not-so talented) people with the ability to share their creations with the world. With the possible exception of his political background, Kennett’s skills serve him well in establishing a career as an independent author.
